The logo of ‘Semmozhi Conference' printed on the back wrapper of some of the Samacheer Kalvi text books.
CHENNAI: The School Education Department has entrusted Chief Educational Officers (CEOs) of various districts with the responsibility of ensuring that class I and VI textbooks, as per the Samcheer Kalvi syllabus, reach schools soon.
Sources in the department said the books were ready, but the logo of ‘Semmozhi Conference' printed on the back wrapper had to be covered. Officials, over the last few days, have been engaged in the activity of sourcing thin, cardboard strips and pasting them over the logo.
“Not all books have the logo, only the newly-printed ones do. But it is still a lot of work considering that we have to cover the logo in several thousands of books in a short span of time,” an official said. Stickers are to be pasted over content such as achievements of the DMK and ‘Chennai Sangamam' featured in some of the textbooks, officials said.
