Punjab Police posts win

MANDI: Punjab Police defeated South Eastern Railway, Jharkhand, 2-0 in the Power Grid Corporation Hot Weather Football Tournament here on Thursday.

For a place in the final, Punjab Police will have to await the result of the match between the Jharkhand team and Shivaji Sports Academy, Kolhapur. Punjab Police have three points from two outings and a tally of two goals in its favour. The Kolhapur team can make it to the final by winning by a three-nil margin.

Amit netted both goals for the Punjab team and with better shooting could have accomplished a hat-trick. Amit scored the first goal in 20th minute with a rising shot and added another midway through the second half.

On Wednesday, Punjab Police had played out a goalless draw with the Kolhapur team. — Special Correspondent
