KOLKATA: The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong is in danger of losing its right to host the I-League matches. A recent visit from an inspection team from the Asian football confederation felt that the facilities in the stadium, which is home to the I-League side Lajong FC, are not up to the mark to hold professional league matches. The AFC team found the facilities inadequate in many areas including ground condition, dressing rooms, medical room, doping testing centre and the media box. Two months time The continental body, which is assessing the I-league clubs' compliance to club licensing norms, has given the authorities in charge of the stadium in Shillong two months to put things in order before they make another inspection to certify its fitness, according to an AIFF official. In case its home stadium is declared unfit Lajong FC may well have to play the home matches in another venue. — Principal Correspondent
