Bangalore: The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) has decided to offer jobs to 20 kabaddi players who have been selected for the State and national-level teams. In the first phase, only kabaddi players would be recruited and given postings based on their educational qualifications. The recruited players have to represent the BMTC at the national and state-level tournaments, Minister for Transport and Home R Ashok told presspersons here on Saturday. Mr. Ashok, once a kabaddi player and an athlete, said in a later phase, players from volleyball, football, basketball, and other games would be recruited based on their performance. All these appointments are on ad-hoc basis. The BMTC will identify qualified sportspersons and offer jobs, he said. Recruited players would be given leave during the tournament days and sufficient time for daily practice. The decision to recruit sportspersons to the corporation was taken at a recent board meeting of the BMTC, he said.
