Special visit:Governor H.R. Bhardwaj at a bakery established by women members of self-help groups in Doddaballapur taluk on Saturday. BANGALORE: Some progressive farmers in Doddaballapur had an opportunity to meet Governor H.R. Bhardwaj, who visited the area on Saturday. At an interaction at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Hadonahalli, the Governor met Sadanand, a progressive farmer who has adopted an integrated farming system. Mr. Bhardwaj said he was impressed that Mr. Sadanand netted a profit of around Rs. 6.5 lakh annually from 2.5 acres. The interaction came about during Mr. Bhardwaj's visit to the Rural Bio-Resource Complex (RBRC) at Tubgere hobli in Doddaballapur taluk near here, which was facilitated by the University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. Mr. Bhardwaj also visited the biofuel plant established by Rural Biofuel Growers Association, the bakery and value-added product centre established by the women members of self-help groups, the fruits and vegetable marketing complex and also the horticulture nursery that has species of jackfruit, mango, neem, guava, sapota, jamun, drumstick and papaya. Others present during the visit were Union Law and Justice Minister M. Veerappa Moily, MLA K. Venkataswamy and UAS Vice-Chancellor K. Narayana Gowda.
