VIJAYAWADA: Andhra Cricket Association's executive committee meeting has unanimously decided to “temporarily suspend' former ACA secretary Nekkanti Venkata Rao for misrepresenting the facts in the court on the functioning of the association, according to its secretary Gokaraju Gangaraju here on Sunday. Speaking to media persons, Mr. Raju alleged that Mr. Rao had misled the court saying that the land for the construction of stadiums was given away by the State government free of cost. “The fact is the State government has given some concessions and it did not offer the land free of cost. It is unfortunate that Mr. Rao, who had served the ACA for 24 years, is trying to destabilise the association by concocting the facts,” he added. He said the primary funding for all the affiliated associations was done by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. “Just like the government is promoting other games by offering sops, the government is offering concessions to the ACA ,” he added. The ACA secretary said the final decision on Mr. Rao will be taken only after the pronouncement of the judgment. Earlier, in the executive committee meeting held on June 12, Mr. Rao's club – Gandhi Memorial Cricket Club was suspended. Mr. Raju said the annual general body meeting of the ACA will be held on July 13 in which the elections for new executive will be held. “The meeting will be held at Vijayawada Club on July 13 and election officer will be Commissioner of Police Amit Garg.
