Man held on rape charge

KOCHI: The Kalamassery police, on Sunday, arrested a person on charge of raping a woman. Benny, also known as Santhosh Varghese, of Thuruthy Malayil, Aranmula, Pathanamthitta, was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by a 28-year-old home nurse from Kanyakumari. The accused had approached her, posing as a doctor, seeking her service for his mother. The woman was allegedly raped in a hotel in the city.

The suspect was arrested from Vytilla. The complainant has been admitted to the Kottayam taluk hospital and her condition is reported to be serious. Police sources said that an agent named Chandrasekhar had also been taken into custody.
