COIMBATORE: The R.S. Puram police arrested Sumaya Praveen alias Sowmya (24) of Tirupur for reportedly stealing an ATM card from Sivagama Sundari (65) of KK Pudur and withdrawing Rs.80,000 from Sundari's account. Realising that her ATM card was stolen, Sivagama Sundari immediately lodged a complaint with the bank concerned. But bank officials said that the money was already withdrawn. Hence, based on her complaint the R.S. Puram police registered a case. Sowmya was arrested at Gandhipuram bus stand on Saturday. Investigation revealed that she had stolen three-and-a-half sovereign gold chain from Lakshmi (69) of Madukarai in a moving bus near Ukkadam on June 15. A case had already been registered with the Ukkadam police and the property was recovered. In another incident, Sowmya had stolen three-and-a-half sovereign gold chain from Poorani (35) of Veerakeralam on June 15. The Big Bazaar police had already registered a case and the property was recovered.
