GULBARGA: Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council C. Motamma on Sunday snubbed the police for not arresting Amarnath Patil, Chairman of the Hyderabad Karnataka Area Development Board (HKADB), who is facing charges under the Prevention of atrocities on Scheduled Castes and Tribes Act, for allegedly attacking Shrimant Pattedar, personal assistant to HKADB secretary Shalini Rajneesh Goel.

Ms. Motamma, who was in the city before leaving for Sindagi in Bijapur district, met Mr. Pattedar at his residence.

She said it was surprising that even 10 days after cases were registered under non-bailable offences, the police did not arrest Mr. Patil, who is also the State general secretary of the ruling party. “It is surprising that the police allowed him to escape by delaying the registration of the case”.

Ms. Motamma spoke to Superintendent of Police Praveen Madhukar Pawar over phone and told the official to pursue the case seriously. She also wanted the police to include in the First Information Report sections under the Indian Penal Code that deal with preventing a government official from discharging his duties. She said she would raise it in the legislative council. Earlier, Ms. Motamma met Mr. Pattedar's family members.
