NEW DELHI: A minor girl who was abducted from near her house in Shahbad Dairy here a week ago has been rescued from Rajasthan by the Delhi Police. A resident of Holambi Kalan had lodged a complaint on June 15, saying his 12-year-old daughter had gone missing. The complainant told the police the girl had gone to fetch groceries from a nearby market on June 12, but did not return. A team under the supervision of Station House Officer (Shahbad Dairy) Inspector Dinesh Kumar carried out raids in different parts of Delhi and its neighbouring areas in this connection. Acting on a tip-off, the team recently mounted a raid at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan and rescued the girl. Her abductor, Lakhan (20), was arrested. Lakhan, a native of Uttar Pradesh, purportedly told the police that he wanted to marry the girl, and thus abducted her. He had come to Bhiwadi along with the girl in search of a job when the police arrested him.
