‘Ashtavadhanam' organised by the T. Subbarami Reddy Lalithakala Parishat regales audience ‘Every month a programme showcasing art, culture, tradition and language to be organised'
Honouring art:Film producer D. Rama Naidu and T. Subbarami Reddy, MP, at the felicitation of Avadhani Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad in Hyderabad on Sunday. HYDERABAD: It was an evening few would forget, for it has been long since lovers of the Telugu language were given such a treat to hear. That was how the ‘Ashtavadhanam' by Rallabandi Kavitha Prasad, a poet and currently a senior officer in the Social Welfare Department, was received by an appreciable gathering at the Ravindra Bharathi here. The programme lasted for well over an hour and a discerning audience let the literary shower sweep over them and showed their happiness by their applause every time Mr. Kavitha Prasad showed his command over the language by tearing the ‘Aprastutha Prasangi' to pieces. The latter part was essayed by R. Satyanarayana Sastry, a teacher at the Kendriya Vidyalaya school in the National Police Academy campus. And patiently sitting among the audience and enjoying the deluge were Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Science & Technology, ‘Kalabandhu' T. Subbarami Reddy, Law Minister Erasu Pratap Reddy and former MP and Dada Saheb Phalke awardee D. Rama Naidu. The ‘Ashtavadhanam' was a part of the monthly programme organised by the T. Subbarami Reddy Lalithakala Parishat. Addressing the audience after felicitating the ‘Avadhani' and the eight other poets, he said the goal of the newly-formed Lalithakala Parishat is to ensure that every month a programme showing art, culture, tradition and language, is held at all the district headquarters towns and the State capital. He said work on a phase-wise programme of constructing auditoria all over the State has already begun. Minister Mr. Pratap Reddy said government was all for patronising the arts and culture but said it also needed the support of people and organisations. Chairman, A.P. State Cultural Council, R.V. Ramana Murthy, actress Priya and ‘Rasamayee' M.K. Ramu and ‘Vamsi' Ramaraju were present
