Tirupur: A house at M.S.Nagar here was allegedly burgled on Sunday and 16.5 sovereigns of jewellery and Rs 4.5 lakh kept inside a cupboard taken away. Police said the incident occurred when Selvaraj, a textile businessman, was away at Tiruchy. The burglars broke open the front door and the locked cupboard to take away the valuables and the money, police officials added. In another incident on the same day, 15 sovereigns of jewellery was reportedly stolen from a bus passenger at Vellakoil. Palani-bound bus Police said the complainant, M. Ramasamy, was travelling from Salem in a Palani-bound bus when the theft occurred. Electronic gadgets At Udumalpet, a house was allegedly burgled on Saturday from where valuables worth about Rs two lakh were taken away. Police said the owner, R. Umadevi, was away at Dubai when the theft took place. The accused, according to police sources, gained entry into the house by removing the window pane. Land documents, dish antennas, sunglasses, bangles, video cameras, a mobile phone and few wrist watches were among the items stolen, police said.
