ONGOLE: Municipal Administration Minister M. Mahidhar Reddy on Monday stressed the need for collective efforts to improve the quality of education in government schools. Speaking after distributing school uniform and textbooks to students at Ulavapadu in Prakasam district, the Minister highlighted the joint efforts being made by the Union and State governments to ensure right to education for all students between five and 14 years. While urging the teachers to contribute their mite to impart quality education to children, he exhorted the parents to send their wards to government schools instead of private ones. The Minister, taking part in the ‘Vidyapaksha Utsavalu', inaugurated a Rs. 1.68 crore BC Welfare Hostel for Girls at Jarugumalli. He also laid foundation stone for Kasturba Gandhi Balikala Bidyalaya at Kovvuru and Rs. 2-crore polytechnic at Kandukur. He also laid foundation stone for additional classrooms to be built at the ZP high schools in K. Bitragunta and Jarugumalli at an estimated cost of Rs. 26.71 lakh and Rs. 31.31 lakh respectively.
