Steps on to curb stray dog menace: Mayor

Kozhikode: Mayor A.K. Premajam said that the Corporation had already taken steps to deal with the menace of stray dogs in the city.

Responding to a report published in The Hindu on Sunday on dangers posed by stray dogs in Payyanakkal, Panniyankara, and Kappakkal in the Corporation limits, Prof. Premajam said she had already instructed all councillors to take lawful steps to solve the problem, in consultation with veterinary surgeons, health inspectors and residents' associations.

Prof. Premajam added that P.V. Avaran, councillor of Kappakkal, who had raised the issue in the report, himself was a member of the Corporation Health Standing Committee which was giving guidance on the issue.
