The newly constructed building for holding public grievance redressal meetings was inaugurated in Vellore Collectorate on Monday VELLORE: The newly constructed building for holding the weekly public grievance redressal day meetings was inaugurated on Monday. The building has been constructed on the premises of the Vellore Collectorate with funds from the Member of Parliament local area development fund. Constructed on a plinth area of 3,130 square feet, the building has a seating capacity for 300 persons. It has come up at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh from the local area development fund of Vellore MP Abdul Rahman. It has been named as Quaid-E-Milleth memorial hall, according to a press release. Shortly after inaugurating the building, Mr. Rahman said the Collector and officials have been receiving petitions from the public on every Monday and taking measures towards redressing their grievances. “During the grievance redressal day meetings, the public has to stand outside under the sun or rain to submit their petitions. It is to provide a proper facility for the public that this building has been constructed,” he said. Collector S. Nagarajan said the officials should utilise this facility and take steps to immediately redress the grievances of the public. Among others, Project Officer of District Rural Development Agency N. Arul Jothi Arasan and Vellore Corporation Mayor Karthickeyan were present on the occasion.
