VANIYAMBADI: A 37-year-old man was found dead at Vaniyambadi near the service lane of the National Highway-46 on Monday morning. Suspecting foul play in his death, about 50 of his relatives staged a protest with the body at the Vaniyambadi bus terminus demanding that the police find out the cause of death. According to Vaniyambadi Town police, Raghu, a resident of Govindapuram in Vaniyambadi, had left his house on Sunday morning and did not return home. He was a private ambulance driver. On Monday morning, he was found dead near the service lane of the National Highway – 46 near Sakthi Nagar. Police said He was found dead with injury on his head and added that he lay down on the pavement of the service lane in an inebriated condition and could have fallen down from the pavement. Suspecting that he could have been beaten up, his relatives staged a protest at about 8.30 a.m. at the Vaniyambadi bus terminus. Deputy Superintendent of Police-Vaniyambadi sub-division A. Abdullah and Inspector of Vaniyambadi Town police station Nilavazhagan went to the spot and pacified the protestors. The body was sent to the Vaniyambadi Government Hospital for post-mortem. Vaniyambadi Town police have registered a case and are investigating, police said.
