BHUBANESWAR: The stage is set for the ninth edition of the annual Suravi national dance and music festival to be held at Jayadev Bhawan from Tuesday. The three-day event is being hosted by the city-based Odissi dance institute Suravi. Addressing the mediapersons, Suravi founder-director and young Odissi guru Pitambar Biswal said the Suravi Samman for the year would be conferred on two New Delhi-based Odissi dancers Jyoti Srivastava for Guru Debaprasad Das style and Kabita Dwibedi for Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra style of Odissi dance. While Jyoti would perform on the inaugural evening, Kabita is scheduled for the concluding evening, Mr. Biswal added. He said Kathak dancer Sohini Debnath from Kolkata, city-based Odissi dancer Minati Pradhan, and Odissi dancer Rajashree Biswas from Kolkata would perform as soloists. Similarly, Bharatanatyam dancer Arupa Lahiry from Kolkata and city-based Odissi dancer Rajashree Praharaj would stage solo recitals during the programme that would also showcase Badya Madhuri, orchestra of instrumental music, composed and conducted by mardal Guru Dhaneswar Swain.
