Teachers to stage Secretariat protest

Staff Reporter

Kozhikode: The Kerala Aided Higher Secondary Teachers' Association will hold a demonstration in front of the Secretariat in Thiruvananthapuram on June 29 to press its demands, including rectifying the anomalies in wage revision of teachers and non-teachers and exempting school Principals from teaching duties.

Demands

A meeting of the association held here on Monday said higher secondary teachers worked six days a week, including on Saturdays. Their casual leave should be increased to 20 from the present 15 days.

Child care leave for two years allowed to women employees of the Union government should be adopted in the State.

The organisation demanded that the State government withdraw its decision to promote all junior teachers with five years of experience as senior teachers.

Association State president Joshy Antoney presided over the meeting.

Its general secretary, P.A. Joseph, and treasurer A.K. Abdul Hakkim spoke on the occasion.
