Committee announces fees for PG medical courses

Staff Reporter

Applicable for all self-financing colleges in the State

KOCHI: The P.A. Mohammed-headed Fee Regulatory Committee has announced the fee for postgraduate medical courses for the academic year 2011-12.

The fee structure, announced here on Monday, for various courses is as follows: MS Anatomy (Rs.2 lakh), MD Pathology (Rs.2 lakh), MD General Medicine (Rs.2 lakh), MD Psychiatry (Rs.5 lakh), MD Paediatrics (Rs.5 lakh), MS Orthopaedics (Rs.5 lakh), MS ENT (Rs.5 lakh), MS Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Rs.5 lakh), MD Radio Diagnosis (Rs.5 lakh), MS Ophthalmology (Rs.5 lakh), MD Community Medicine (Rs.2 lakh), MS General Surgery (Rs.5 lakh), PG Diploma Dermatology (Rs.3.75 lakh), MD Anaesthesia (Rs.5 lakh), and MD Microbiology (Rs.2 lakh).

A press release issued by the committee said the fee would be applicable for all self-financing colleges offering postgraduate medical courses in the State. The committee gave two weeks' time to the four colleges affiliated to the Kerala Christian Medical College Managements Federation to submit more details on the expenditure they incurred, on the inference that the documents presented by the colleges before the committee for fixing the fee were insufficient. The committee found that there was considerable difference in the fee mentioned in the prospectus for admission and the proposal submitted by the colleges before the committee. The decision on fee structure was taken in view of the fact that the admission process for postgraduate medical courses has to be completed before June 30, the release said. The committee directed the managements which had failed to submit their applications and documents required for fixing the fee for 2011-12 to present the details within two weeks.
