Only nine boards have supplied data CBSE marks will be taken as a standard THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rank list for admission to engineering courses in the academic year 2011-12 is likely to be published in the first week of July. Prior to its preparation, the marks of candidates from various examination boards will have to be normalised and mapped to the scores of the State higher secondary examinations. In case the marks-related data of a candidate's year of passing is unavailable, the latest marks from that board will be considered for normalisation. In case no data from a board is available, the marks of the CBSE examination of the year in which the candidate passed the qualifying examination will be used for normalisation. Before normalisation begins, the marks-related data of all candidates will be published by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations on the designated website on Thursday or Friday. Candidates will be given four or five days to verify this data. After that, the website will be locked and the process of normalisation will begin. These decisions were taken at a meeting of the normalisation committee here on Monday. Medical admissions The Commissioner's office, it is learnt, is trying to secure clearance from the State government to go ahead with the allotments to the MBBS and the BDS courses. The Supreme Court has directed that the first round of allotments to these courses would have to be done on or before July 17. Therefore, if the government is not able to arrive at a seat-fee pact with the association of private self-financing college managements soon, the Commissioner's office may even be forced to go ahead with allotments to the government medical colleges. Several boards Besides those of the Kerala boards, the Indian School Certificate, and the Central Board of Secondary Education, there are candidates from 23 examination boards who have qualified in the engineering entrance examinations. Only nine boards have so far supplied the data necessary for normalisation. Of these, six are from outside India. One foreign board has asked the Commissioner's office to deposit a fee of more than 100 pounds for the data. Only one student from each of these boards has qualified in the test. The office is yet to receive data from Maharashtra from where 104 students have qualified. Similarly, the marks-related data from Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Chhattisgarh, and Gujarat, among others, is yet to be received. The boards from where the data has been received include those from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Mizoram, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Bhutan.
