Auditor convicted in bribe case

HYDERABAD: The Special Judge for ACB cases at Visakhapatnam on Monday sentenced L. Sangam Naidu, senior auditor in the District Audit Office at Vizianagaram to undergo one year simple imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 1,000 after convicting him in a bribe case related to 2006.
According to press release of the ACB, the judge convicted the officer under Section 7 and Section 13 (1) (d) read with 13 (2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. The officer was caught red-handed by the ACB officials on April 5, 2006, when he accepted Rs. 2,500 as bribe from a retired teacher for doing an official favour of not sending audit report on received excess increment.
