Accidental death: Workers removing the carcass of the stallion that died in the TTD's dairy farm, Go Samrakshanasala, in Tirupati on Monday. TIRUPATI: In a freak mishap, a stallion died after a serious injury it sustained while galloping at the TTD's dairy farm (Go Samrakshanasala) here on Monday. The horse, which retired from racing, belonged to a stud farm in Mysore and was gifted to the TTD by a Bangalore-based donor, Rama Raju, early this month. Lands on fence pole Let out in the grazing field along with other horses, the galloping stallion landed straight on a fence pole, badly injuring itself and died within minutes. While horses donated by people are generally made part of the temple paraphernalia along with elephants and oxen during temple events at Tirumala, this stallion had not made it to processions thus far. “One, it is new to our dairy farm. Second, unlike others, this horse was used to galloping and may have found slow-walking in front of processions a difficult task,” the Go Samrakshanasala superintendent, P.Harinath Reddy, told this correspondent. As it was a natural death, no post-mortem was conducted on the animal. The keepers arranged to remove the carcass from the spot and buried it in the farm compound.
