Kochi: The Kerala High Court, on Monday, adjourned the hearing on a writ petition filed by the Kerala Christian Professional College Managements' Federation challenging a government order cancelling admissions made to government quota in postgraduate medical courses under its self-financing medical colleges and directing the Director of Medical Education to fill those seats. In the petition, the federation pointed out that the college managements filled the government seats because the government failed to allot students to them despite reminders. It said that after finalising the fee structure, the managements wrote to the State government saying that they were not against allotting 50 per cent of the seats to the government. The petition said that since the last date for admission was May 31, it was mentioned in the letter that in case the government proposed to make allotments it should be intimated to the managements before May 16 so that admissions could be completed on or before May 25. Lottery case adjourned A Division Bench, on Monday, adjourned to next month the writ petition filed by Megha Distributors, promoters of Bhuttan lotteries, seeking a directive to the State government to receive advance tax for the lotteries. Milma case The court posted to June 24 the hearing on a writ petition filed by the Kerala Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (Milma) against the order of the Director of Dairy Development directing it to rescind its decision to hike the price of milk.
