Hassan: Minister for Housing V. Somanna on Monday defended Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa's invitation to the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy to take an oath in front of the deity at Dharmasthala temple. Speaking to presspersons here, Mr. Somanna charged that the Opposition never allowed the Government to work smoothly. Bad taste Criticising Mr. Kumaraswamy, Mr. Somanna said the use of words against the Chief Minister was in bad taste. He said the State Government had no “power” to tackle the elephant menace in the district as the Union Government should give sanction to capture the jumbos. Response The State had sent proposals in this regard several times, but there had been no response. The Government would soon take a delegation to the Centre in this regard, Mr. Somanna added.
