MADURAI: Rajasthani Association Tamil Nadu, a representative body of all persons of Rajasthani origin who had settled in Tamil Nadu, held its biannual State council meet here on Sunday. During the meeting, the new chapter of Rajasthani Association Madurai was inaugurated by association's Chennai president Gyanchand Bohra. Om Prakash Kothari was installed as the president of the new chapter. Shrenikraj Singhvi, chairman, Mandeep Marbles, inaugurated the meeting. Agarchand Chordia of Jain Jewellery, Virudachalam, was the chief guest of the function and I.M. Lal, an advocate from Tiruchi, was the guest of honour. Harishankar Agarwal, Coordinator, State Council, delivered the welcome address. A presentation on the association's activities was given by general secretary M.P. Marda. Around 400 delegates took part. According to a press release, the Rajasthani Association Tamil Nadu was formed to coordinate between various associations with members of Rajasthani origin who were working in different fields. It promotes trade and industries, social reformation, uplifting downtrodden people, religious activities, health and education. One of the association's two meetings in the year was held at Chennai with the other at various cities. They have been held at several places including Coimbatore, Vaniyambadi, Puducherry, Udhagamandalam and Salem. This year, the meeting was being held at Madurai.
