Vijayawada
VIJAYAWADA: The city unit of CPI has written an open letter to Chief Minister N. Kumar Reddy urging him to initiate necessary steps to complete the pending projects in the city. CPI city secretary K. Subba Raju, in his letter on Monday, said that the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) identified one lakh families as eligible for housing. The corporation could construct only 4,000 houses during the last six years. The government should provide pucca housing to all eligible people who were given slips and initiate measures to provide housing for all the identified families, he said. Regional hospitals The government laid foundation stone twice for Gunadala flyover. And the flyover at Benz Circle turned out to be mere proposals on paper. Similarly, setting up a super speciality hospital in Vijayawada is still an unaccomplished dream. The government, apart from developing the old government hospital and constructing super speciality hospital, should set up regional hospitals at Payakapuram and Gattuvenka prantham, he said. Release of Rs. 300 crore grant due to the VMC, strengthening of Krishna karakatta and Prakasam Barrage as part of the Krishna Delta Modernisation works, speedy completion of Under Ground Drainage (UGD) works in the One Town, and the Budameru scheme were some of the other problems that need to be addressed immediately, he said.
