Drive against pan masala sale near institutions

Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation will spearhead a campaign to curb the sale and use of pan masala and tobacco products in the vicinity of educational institutions. This was decided at a meeting chaired by Mayor K. Chandrika on Monday.

The meeting decided to constitute sanitation, health, and safety committees in schools before June 30. The committees will take the initiative for the campaign to educate children about the ill-effects of using intoxicants. The school-level programme will be backed by a broad-based campaign in the wards.
