New DCP assumes office

Coimbatore: S. Nizamuddin on Monday assumed office as Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime and Traffic), Coimbatore City.

He replaces N. Kamini IPS who has been posted as Commandant at the Tamil Nadu Special Police Battalion at Veerapuram in Chennai.

Mr. Nizamuddin joined the Tamil Nadu Police as Sub-Inspector in 1976 and had served in Coimbatore City, Rural District, Nilgiris, Chengelput East, Salem and Tirunelveli. Prior to this posting, he was SP, Tiruchirapalli district.

Mr. Nizamuddin said that the traffic problems would be studied and efforts would be made to ease congestion. Greater focus would be on crime prevention and detection.
