KOCHI: Minister for Food and Civil Supplies T.M. Jacob called on the Left Democratic Front, especially the CPI(M), to function as a creative force in the State's administration and accused the Opposition of betraying signs of intolerance in its threats to disrupt the functioning of the United Democratic Front government. Mr. Jacob was speaking at a function organised here on Monday to mark the 47th birthday of Youth Front (Jacob). He was accorded a reception by the Ernakulam district unit of the Kerala Congress (Jacob). He appealed to the CPI(M) to turn away from initiating any unhealthy rivalry and recalled that the UDF had decided not to disrupt the functioning of the LDF government when it came to power in 2006. The UDF had then decided to give the new government sufficient time to function. The LDF was threatening to launch a programme of protest even as the new government had just begun to function, Mr. Jacob said.
