RAJAHMUNDRY: The newly appointed incharge Vice-Chancellor Allam Apparao has announced that he wants to bring new brand image to six-year-old Adikavi Nannaya University with his 50-day quick plan and place on par with existing Universities in the State. Speaking at a media conference after assuming office on Monday, Prof. Appa Rao, who is also Vice-Chancellor of JNTU, Kakinada said that the university would introduce M.A. Telugu from this academic year. He also said that Rajahmundry as cultural capital of Andhra Pradesh should have a course in hospitality industry and they would plan for it shortly. 50-day plan He announced that collaboration with industry, employability to students and giving brand image and keeping the history and culture of the city are part of his 50-day plan. “Availability, accessibility and affordability are three important issues to enrich education. Students should strive for these three”- Prof. Apparao said. Replying to a question, he said that Nannaya University is presently not having any affiliated Colleges, as a first step he has taken a decision and gave orders to all 360 non-professional (Degree colleges) to affiliate with the University immediately. He said that affiliated colleges are only the strength of the University and Government Arts College would be made (Autonomous) as a Constituent College to Nannaya University. New buildings Speaking about construction of new buildings to the University, Prof. Apparao said that they have already started the work at Velugubanda and it would be done on a war-footing basis. About the quality of education and standards of teaching, he said that he came to know about some of the allegations about University in the past, but it will take time to settle matters. K. Satya Prasad, Rector, G.V.R. Prasada Raju, Director, K. Poornanadam, Director, N. Appa Rao, Director of JNTU, N. Bhargavaram, Registrar, AKNU, Suresh Varma, Principal, AKNU and others participated.
