Four arrested, valuables recovered

COIMBATORE: Pollachi police on Monday arrested four persons on charges of involvement in thefts and burglaries across the district and recovered from them gold and silver articles worth Rs. 6.5 lakh.

The police said they first arrested Sunderraj, 26, Udumalpet, and Panneerselvam, 23, Angalakurichi, after inquiring with them during a routine vehicle check on Pollachi-Kottoor Road. The duo did not provide convincing answers.

The police's inquiry with the two revealed that they along with Ravi, 43, Angalakurichi, and Palanisamy, 50, Udumalpet, had indulged in thefts, robberies and burglaries in Pollachi, Sulur, Vadavalli and a few other places.

Based on the information the two provided, the police also arrested Ravi and Palanisamy. They also seized jewellery weighing 34 sovereigns and one-and-half kg silver articles.
