HYDERABAD: Investigation into the suspicious death of Kiran Reddy, a niece of Union Petroleum Minister S. Jaipal Reddy, has almost run into a cul de sac with investigators failing to achieve any breakthrough on Monday. The police, who initially registered a case of suspicious death, later altered it to murder after her father suspected foul play by her husband. Dr. Kiran Reddy was rushed to Apollo Hospital on Saturday morning after her husband, Chaitanya Reddy, also a doctor, found her unconscious. The doctors at Apollo declared her dead on arrival. Following doubts being expressed over the sudden death, police sent the body for an autopsy, but the report has not yet been submitted. The forensic experts have not given any short opinion on cause of death and investigators are awaiting the detailed post-mortem report which could throw light on cause of death. Pending the receipt of autopsy report, police grilled Dr. Chaitanya Reddy, his younger brother, Nitin, and their parents for the second day on Monday. Police found no contradictions in their versions which have almost tallied with the versions given by maids in their house. Investigations revealed that Dr. Chaitanya and Dr. Kiran went to a hotel for a party organised by the latter's brother, Sunil, ahead of his marriage. They partied till 1.30 a.m., returned home and slept in different bedrooms on the first-floor of their duplex house in Jubilee Hills . “I woke up at 8 a.m. and found her lying supine on the cot. Her head was suspended over the cot's edge,” Dr. Chaitanya told the police. There were no external injuries on the body. The victim's family members suspected she was smothered to death. However, police found no marks on face or signs of froth or injuries.
