Twentieth Century Club which claimed the Bishop Waller Shield for TNCA's fourth division championship recently. CHENNAI: Twentieth Century Club clinched the Bishop Waller Shield for TNCA's IV division championship for 2010-11 after registering wins over C. Appaiah Chettiar and Jupiter Sports Club in the play-offs, here recently. Twentieth Century beat Jupiter Sports Club, the ‘A' zone winner of the N. Kannayiram Shield, by 46 runs and C. Appaiah Chettiar, the ‘C' zone winner of the K.S. Kannan Shield, by 136 runs in the two play-off games. The champion had earlier shown heart and character in topping the ‘B' zone and clinching the A.G. Kripal Singh Shield by virtue of winning nine matches, losing one and drawing one. Then, to decide the championship, play-offs were conducted among the winners of the respective zones. Those who cornered glory for Twentieth Century this season were R. Ramesh (561 runs at 56.10), R. Elango (470 at 52.22), V. Murali (28 wickets at 20), and P. Vengadesan (25 at 20.60). The three teams which contested the play-offs were all promoted to the III division. Jai Hind, Areva, YMCA (Royapettah) and St. Mary's were relegated to the V division.
