Namakkal: In a bid to meet the requirements of the applicants and petitioners better and in a much quicker way the district administration has come out with an amicable solution to ensure that their requirements are met at the Taluk level, with effect from July 1. District Collector J. Kumaragurubaran who presided over the Jamabandhi at the Paramathi Taluk during the second and third week of this month said that he received nearly 1,500 petitions of which most of them were those that could be met at the Taluk level if the mechanism was streamlined and if the people were guided properly. “Many petitioners told me that they have been submitting applications at the Taluk office more than eight times for over a period of many years but their grievances were yet to be redressed,” the Collector said. He observed that only about 10 percent of the applicants/petitioners knew the requirements such as – certificates or other proofs – to be furnished along with their application to get their requirements – such as ration card, gas connection, old age pension, widow pension, nativity certificate or salary certificate – fulfilled. “Realising that people would have to get in touch with the Taluk office for nearly 20 different purposes – including those mentioned above – we prepared 20 different forms,” he said. These custom-made forms would space to fill the name of the applicant, village and Taluk and place and date of submission of the same. Two forms will be available with the Revenue Inspector – one for the official record and other to be handed over to the applicant with details to be furnished to get the required benefit or certificate. On conducting a field visit to the petitioner's house, the RI will get his copy signed by the applicant as ‘received', the Collector said. If the applicant is not at home the applicant's copy will be pasted on the wall of his house with a specified date before which the required details have to be furnished, failing which the application would be cancelled.
