Summer fete at Yelagiri Hills on July 9, 10

VELLORE: Summer festival will be held at Yelagiri Hills on July 9 and 10. Various events such as flower show, food festival, cultural shows and light music programmes will be held as part of the festival.

A consultative meeting on organising the festival at the hills was conducted on Tuesday. Collector S. Nagarajan chaired the meeting, a release said.

The meeting discussed various works to be undertaken to organise the festival. The following programmes have been planned for the festival – exhibition to explain works carried out by government departments, flower exhibition, dog show, food festival, leather products exhibition, fashion show, competitions, including bicycle riding, comedy show of small screen artists, cultural programmes by college students, magic show, light music programmes and fireworks show.

Discussion on organising free medical camp on the two days for villagers of the hills was also held Programmes to explain fire prevention methods have also been planned. The meeting also discussed steps to be taken to prevent traffic congestion during the festival days, operating special buses, providing uninterrupted power supply, drinking water and stationing a fire tender on the spot, the release said.

Members of Legislative Assembly K.C. Veeramani (Jolarpet constituency), Govi. Sampath Kumar (Vaniyambadi) and officials of various departments were present.
