Bangalore: The High Court pulled up the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for “sham” investigation into the irregularities in the selection to the posts of KAS officers by the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC), and added that it it would entrust the probe to Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J.S. Khehar and Justice H.G. Ramesh on Tuesday said the CID's investigation had restricted itself to issues such as false documents produced by candidates and had gone no further. The CID had submitted its report last month as the court, acting on public interest litigation, had directed it to probe the irregularities of KPSC recruitment to these posts during 1998, 1999 and 2004. During the hearing on Tuesday, the Bench said, “There was a lot of hue and cry about the irregularities. If the Government does not want to complete the investigation, then we have no other option but to hand over the investigation to the CBI.” “The CID has pointed out that somebody had given false caste certificate, false birth certificate, etc., and contended that because of paucity of time they couldn't proceed further. But the manner of selection was not at all investigated. At the moment, the probe seems to be a sham,” the Bench observed. Meanwhile, Asha Parveen, against whom the CID made an allegation that she had submitted a false caste certificate, complained to the court that she had been victimised without proper investigation. Further hearing was adjourned to July 12. Elections to wakf The Bench on Tuesday directed the State Government to hold elections to the Karnataka State Board of Wakf, and announce the results on or before September 4. The court also directed the Government to finalise the voters' list by July 15 and said that Syed Zameer Pasha, Secretary, Minority Welfare Department, will carry out the court's directions.
