‘Graft: globalisation to blame'

VISAKHAPATNAM: Though corruption existed ever since Independence, it became rampant only after the Centre willingly implemented the policies of globalisation, which meant privatisation and liberalisation, observed MLC M.V.S. Sarma here on Tuesday. Addressing a roundtable organised by the Visakhapatnam forum of the People for India, he felt that privatisation and liberalisation had brought about enormous changes, making life of people miserable. “Any effort to curb corruption in this country will be incomplete and is bound to fail if it does not identify its nexus with globalisation,” he stated.Mr. Sarma said that Anna Hazare had made a great contribution by bring to the fore this crucial issue.
