Mayor R. Venkatachalam, Deputy Mayor N. Karthik, chairmen of committees and zones review the progress of Pilloor Phase-II work on Tuesday. COIMBATORE: Ninety per cent work in Pilloor Phase-II has been completed, said Mayor R. Venkatachalam, who along with Deputy Mayor N. Karthik, a few councillors and officials reviewed the progress of the work on Tuesday. A release from the Corporation said cent per cent work on the 36 km stretch between Periyakombai hillock-Ramakrishnapuram had been completed. Ninety-five per cent work had been completed at the water treatment plant at Velliangadu. The plant has a capacity to treat 125 million litres. The over-head tank construction work at Ramakrishnapuram work would be completed by August 15, the release said and added that the tank has a capacity of 30 lakh litres. The release said the Corporation would be able to supply an additional 20 million litres a day to the city if only the Tamil Nadu Water Supply and Drainage Board were to provide the same. For that the 36 km long pipeline had to be cleaned. And an additional motor had to be run. At present four of the six motors are in operation. The other two are used only during emergencies. If the TWAD Board were to provide the 20 mld, the Corporation would be able to bring down the frequency in water supply from around eights days to four days. Deputy Mayor N. Karthik; JNNURM Superintending Engineer K. Boopathy; Works Committee Chairman R. Ramasamy; East Zone Chairman S.M. Samy; councillors and officials were part of the team.
