Sri Satchidananda Bharathi Mahaswamy to perform the ceremony

Controversy over construction of temple has subsided

Installation ceremony to be performed in tune with temple rituals

GUNTUR: Arrangements are being made for the installation of presiding deity at Sri Medha Dakshinamurthy Swamy temple atop Kotappakonda on the foot hill of Sri Trikoteswara Swamy temple at Narsaraopet on Friday.

The controversy over the construction of the temple which saw two rivals, Kasu Krishna Reddy and Kodela Siva Prasada Rao, pitted against each other, has subsided.

The ceremony would be performed by Sri Satchidananda Bharathi Mahaswamy of Sringeri Sivaganga Sarada Peetham at 10.47 a.m. Chairman of Guntur District Central Cooperative Bank (GDCCB) Nallapati Chandrasekhara Rao, whose family was instrumental behind the construction of temple, on Tuesday told reporters that the installation ceremony would be performed in tune with the temple rituals.

It might be reminded that Mr. Siva Prasada Rao along with his supporters undertook a ‘pada yatra,' to the famed Kotappakonda shrine in a bid to protect the ‘sanctity' of Sri Trikoteswara Swamy temple atop Kotappakonda. He also alleged that construction would amount to vitiating the pious ambience at the temple and was against the ‘sastras.'

But Mr. Chandrasekhara Rao defended the construction of the temple and said that it was being done with the Sringeri Peetadhipathi.

The construction of the temple had also adhered to all norms prescribed in various manuals.
