VELLORE: Collector S. Nagarajan on Wednesday issued orders to grant monthly assistance of Rs. 1,000 to 395 differently abled persons in Ambur taluk. The Collector had earlier ordered to conduct medical camps for age relaxation of differently abled persons to help them avail themselves of assistance in all nine taluks of Vellore district. Accordingly, the camp was organised at the Ambur tahsildar office on Wednesday. The Collector received a total of 507 petitions during the camp, a release said. A team of doctors conducted a medical check-up for the differently abled persons. Based on the certificate issued by the doctors, the age limit fixed by the government were relaxed and 395 persons belonging to the below the poverty line category were identified to receive the assistance. Mr.Nagarajan issued orders to grant the assistance. Sub Collector of Tirupattur Lalitha Lakshmi, Special Deputy Collector (Social Security Scheme) Ettiappan, district rehabilitation officer Vijayashankar and Ambur tahsildar G. Chandrasekaran were present, the release said.
