Short film to create awareness on traffic rules

R. Vimal Kumar

Tirupur: When the traffic police officials called out “start camera, … action” on the city outskirts it took a few seconds for the passersby to realise that it was the shoot of a short film on ‘traffic awareness' by the district police administration.

Accident rates

Shot along the roads in the city and its outskirts over four days ending on Wednesday, the 40-minute short film will be utilised to create awareness among the public on the importance of obeying the traffic rules which, in turn, would bring down the high incidence of accident rate prevalent in the district. “The film will be soon screened in the cinemas, schools, colleges and in public places,” Superintendent of Police V. Balakrishnan told The Hindu.

The short film, produced with the technical assistance of Nagas Ads, Chennai, would explain how to follow lane traffic and signals, and how travelling in triples and on overloaded vehicles as well as in high speeds could cause fatal accidents, among other issues.

“Following lane traffic is an important aspect which majority of the road users are not even aware of ,” Mr Balakrishnan pointed out.

Students and police constables had enacted in the short film to depict how speed thrills but kills one on the road.

A small footage on an interaction the Superintendent of Police had with the students near Avinashi on the road traffic rules had been incorporated into the short film.

Script

The script and screenplay of the short film was done by traffic police Inspector A. Sekar.
