PERAMBALUR: Officials of the Transport Department and the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation should ensure that bus services were operated on time to cater to the requirements of school and college students in the district, said Collector Darez Ahmed here on Wednesday. Mr.Ahmed, who convened a special meeting to redress grievances relating to transport services in the district, added that buses should be operated only in sanctioned routes. The meeting was convened in view of the large number of petitions received by the district administration relating to bus services. Crews of government, private and mini buses should be in uniforms and wear name badges. All buses should stop only at the designated halts, he said. If buses were not operated on time, complaints could be lodged with the branch manager of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation over the telephone number 9487898139 or the Regional Transport Officer at 9443366186, in case of complaints regarding private buses. If the complaints were not redressed, public can contact the Collector 9444175000, Mr.Ahmed said in a press release issued after the meeting. Kuvalayanathan, Regional Transport Officer, Gnanamurthy, branch manager, TN State Transport Corporation, Perambalur, headmasters of schools, bus operators association, and district officials attended the meeting.
