Man arrested, fake notes seized

DAVANGERE: The police have arrested Ramakrishna, 52, of Kotagudda village in Pavagada taluk and recovered counterfeit currency of Rs. 100 denomination from him, here on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police H.S. Venkatesh told presspersons here on Wednesday that the accused had come to Davangere with fake notes.
Following a tip-off the police arrested him.
Upon questioning, the accused said he had come to Davangere looking for people willing to buy the fake notes.
Mr. Venkatesh suspected that many more persons could be involved in circulating counterfeit notes in the region.
He said a special team had been constituted under Deputy Superintendent of Police, K.P. Chandrappa, to trace those behind printing and circulation of such counterfeit notes.
