KHAMMAM: A BDS second year student of the Mamata Medical College allegedly committed suicide by jumping to death from the terrace of a multi-storied building at Varadaiahnagar here in the wee hours of Wednesday. The police have identified the victim as J Pramod Reddy, 20, a native of Kothagudem village of Wardhannapet mandal in Warangal district. According to sources, Pramod, BDS second year student, allegedly went up the terrace atop the five-storey building, where he had been staying in one of the rented apartments along with a few other students, and jumped to death from the terrace in the wee hours of the day. His body was found in a pool of blood adjoining the building by a milkman in the early morning. Though a merit student, Pramod took the extreme step apparently dejected over his poor performance in the ongoing BDS second year examination, sources said. Pramod, son of Raji Reddy, a Singareni employee, had an excellent academic record. Heartrending scenes were witnessed at the apartment as his parents and college mates broke down despondently unable to digest the tragic end of a merit student. "He had resorted to the drastic step even after our advice to him not to worry about his studies," said one of the close relatives pf Pramod with tears in his eyes. Khammam urban police have registered a case and are investigating.
