Students urged to inculcate reading habit

KRISHNAGIRI: Students should inculcate reading habits to improve their Intelligence Quotient (IQ) to compete themselves in this globalisation era, said K. Pugazhendi, Correspondent, Arignar Anna College (Arts and Science) here on Wednesday.

Addressing the inaugural session of the 6th batch of the first year undergraduate students, he said reading text books will help score good marks, but it will not improve general knowledge and current affairs, hence, it is important that they should develop the habit of reading more general books, magazines of different subjects to improve their subject knowledge to keep pace with the day-to-day developments taking place in the world.

Students should concentrate on their studies with responsibility, as it is only the way to show their gratitude to their parents, he added. In his special address Palanivel, Head of the Department, Tamil, Government Arts College for Men, Krishnagiri, said due to globalisation employment opportunities are abundant. It is for the students to equip themselves for the right career of their choice.

As many as 485 students were admitted in and around Krishnagiri for ten branches of undergraduate courses in B.Sc., B.Com. B.B.A. and B.A.

With this the student strength of the college rose to 1,697 including second year and third year students.

D. Sathish Sekar, Department of Bio Technology, welcomed the gathering. M. Manimadhu, Department of Tamil, proposed a vote of thanks.
