Veerabrahmaiah said that 2.20 lakh families in the district would be provided 100 days work this year. Hence, MPDOs must strive to achieve the target. At a meeting on MGNREGP, he said that plantation, irrigation, and land development of SC/STs, among other works, must be taken up under the programme. He asked them to update records, as a sum of Rs. 3 crore was allegedly misused, and recover the amount from the concerned. He said it was decided to plant 3.18 lakh saplings by the end of July. Of the pits required for plantation, 18,000 alone were so far dug, he said. The government would supply saplings and fertilizers. Each worker engaged would able to earn Rs.120 per day, he said.
