Three of a family washed away

Shimoga: Three persons are suspected to have drowned after they slipped into the Tunga river near Tirthahalli on Tuesday.

Nagaveni (45), a resident of Komane village who had served as president of Melinakuruvalli Gram Panchayat, went missing along with her daughters Bindiya (16) and Bhoomika (14) from Tuesday.

Local people had seen them on the banks of the river. The body of Bindiya was found on the banks of the Tunga near Ranjadakatte on Wednesday. The police suspect that three were washed away in the Tunga river. The help of the local divers had been availed to search the two other bodies. Nagaveni is mother of four daughters. The elder daughter is married, and the second daughter is studying at a college in Tirthahalli.
