Case against tiny factory
Special Correspondent
PUDUKOTTAI: The Gandarvakottai police have registered a case against the management of a tiny factory located at Kallakottai following injuries caused to a woman labourer during work.
The police action followed a petition filed by a worker G. Nadhiya (20) with the Judicial Magistrate court, Gandarvakottai, seeking action against the firm for injuries she suffered on her hand.
The petitioner said that she switched off a machine to pick up a few broken bottles. As she was picking up broken bottles, the machine started rolling, as another employee, Periyanayagi, switched on the machine, resulting in the injuries. The incident happened in October last year and Nadhiya filed the petition.
The police have registered a case against Ramasamy alias Venkatesan, manager; Venkatesan, deputy administrative officer; Balamurugan, production manager and Periyanayagi, the employee of the factory. No arrest has been made so far.
