Facelift for stadium

The State Sports Minister Madan Mitra promised a suitable facelift for the Salt Lake Stadium that will host an international friendly between Argentina and Venezuela on September 2.

With superstar Lionel Messi scheduled to figure in the Argentine squad, the minister said he would try to give a befitting stage to the big match.

With hardly two months remaining of the scheduled kick-off, the state government will start a major renovation work that will include areas like the artificial turf, the stands and the dressing room for the visiting sides, Mr. Mitra said after a meeting with the organiser CMG.

With the tickets price initially set between Rs. 1,000 and Rs. 5,000, the minister said there may be an effort to review it once the preparations are over.
