NEW DELHI: It was a heart-break for the talented Indian girls as they narrowly missed the Olympic quota place in air pistol in the shooting World Cup that concluded in Munich on Wednesday. All the three Indian shooters, Annu Raj Singh, Heena Sidhu and Shweta Chaudhry shot an identical high score of 384 out of 400, but missed the final by one point. Annu had already won the Olympic quota in the last World Cup in Fort Benning, and the two other Indian girls were fighting for the second spot for India. In the event, Stephanie Tirode of France beat the reigning World champion Zorana Arunovic of Serbia to clinch the gold and the first of three quota places for London. The other two quota places were bagged by Park Minjin (385) of Korea and Lioubov Yaskevich (385) of Russia. In men's rifle 3-position event, Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajputfinished 16th and 20th respectively with scores of 1171 and 1170. The results: Men: 50m free rifle 3-position: 1. Lan Xing (Chn) 1277.8 (1177); 2. Anton Rizov (Bul) 1276.6 (1181); 3. Ole Kristian Bryhn (Nor) 1274.3 (1178); 16. Gagan Narang 1171; 20. Sanjeev Rajput 1170. Women: 10m air pistol: 1. Stephanie Tirode (Fra) 488.3 (388); 2. Zorana Arunovic (Srb) 487.5 (388); 3. Lalita Yauhleuskaya (Aus) 484.2 (386); 12. Annu Raj Singh 384; 13. Heena Sidhu 384; 15. Shweta Chaudhry 384 .
